Senior Rugby Runs the Table

Last Friday, the entire Brentwood senior boys’ rugby programme disembarked on a full day journey to West Vancouver to engage in matches with Collingwood, who played against the Second XV, and AA provincially ranked #4 seed, Sentinel, who were challenged by the First XV.
In the undercard, Collingwood was startled by an aggressive start from a group that was highly motivated. Up and down the field we ran the ball with a satisfying final result, a 22-5 victory.
The First XV matched the intensity of the earlier game and charged into a commanding lead of 45-0 after the first half, and after some close calls, the lads held on to win 55-5.
On Thursday May 12th, the First XV travelled to Ladysmith the play the Blues. The boys executed terrifically despite the harsh, wet conditions. Tries were scored by Wesley D, Ian M, Ben H, Gavin S, and Michael M. In defeating the Blues 52-12, the Brentwood was crowned North Island Champions. Making their First XV debuts were Max E, Alex M, Alex L and Harry B. Congrats lads!
Currently ranked #2 in AA rugby, the boys’ next appearance will be in the provincial tournament on Saturday, May 28th against the 15th ranked team in the province.
