Senior Girls Split 4 in Courtenay

Monday, February 04, 2013 -

The Senior Girls Basketball team played in a tournament this past weekend in Courtenay.  Our first game against Isfeld was a tough way to start off our tournament, but we took on the challenge and played really well in the first quarter.  We unfortunately came up just shy of a win.  Brooke L led the way with 23 points and was named Player of the Game while Tajzha D scored 14.

Our next game was against Carihi High. We had beaten them earlier in the season but we knew we could not take them lightly.  Winning 64-48, Brooke L had 26 points, while Valeria F netted 12 and Tajzha D was Player of the Game with 10.

Winning against Carihi High gave us the opportunity to play Woodlands.  We had never played them before so we did not know what to expect.  We beat them by 27 and Valeria F with 14 points was Player of the Game.

Our last game was against Vanier. They are a very strong team and we fell short of a win.  Joanna L was Player of the Game.

In other action, Brooke L won the tournament’s 3-point shooting competition with a dozen 3-pointers in 1 minute.  Mikayla DJ had an awesome weekend showing that she can mix it up down low and ripped down some incredible rebounds.  Also, Rayna A played intense defense and ran the floor like a champ.

Thanks again to the Grade 9s (McKenna H, Avi S and Valeria F) who helped us out
