Senior Girls Soccer take the Cross Town Rivals

13 April 2010

In what is always an important match, the senior girls soccer team beat our cross town rivals in a tightly contested game that had loads of drama. Blustery winds made it difficult for goaltenders but not even the best keeper could keep out a well driven left footed shot from Brentwood defender Annelise H. in the opening half to give the hosts the lead. Credit to Shawnigan Lake who used their speed to good effect to even things up with a goal in the second half.

With a tie after regulation time, the game must be decided with a penalty shootout that could affect the playoff race with league standings. Mairi H., Georgia L., and Alexa M. converted from the spot after the first 4 shooters for Shawnigan notched only one, giving the edge to Brentwood. The girls host Ladysmith today, April 13th, in league play and then travel up the road to Kelsey for a friendly (exhibition) game on Thursday April 15th.
