Senior Girls Rugby: a win against Parkland

3 April 2008
Jim Burrows
On Tuesday, the girls rugby team scored their second league win in beating Parkland 51-7.  Given that Parkland arrived short of players, a number of our girls volunteered to play for the opposition to enable both teams to field a full side. Brentwood's early play was somewhat erratic as it was the team's first day back after spring break, but at times the girls moved the ball with plenty of skill and scored a number of elegant tries. Defensively Alison, Rona and Sarah set the tone while Megan won the ball in every contested scrum. Geneva, Meredyth and Olivia ran and tackled with tremendous grit, while Natasha set an excellent example to the forwards when a ruck formed. The next game is against Moscrop, an AAA team from Vancouver, to be played at Brentwood this Sunday (at 12.30pm). We hope to see some of you on the sidelines to support.
