The Senior Girls Basketball team played in the Wellington Tournament this past weekend. Their first game was against a tough AAA Vanier squad. We matched up well with our opponents and built on our lead as the game progressed, winning 54-38. Top scorers were Spencer M and Ailish T with 11 points each.

The second game of the tournament came against the home squad and the top AA team in the North Island, Wellington. Without Emily H in the lineup due to injury, it was challenging for the team to match up with their big players. Although the girls worked hard all game, they unfortunately experienced their first loss of the season. Top scorer of the game was Spencer M with 18 points.

In the Bronze medal match, BCS faced the feisty and athletic Ballenas. It was a very physical game but the girls were able to maintain their composure and worked hard to get to the basket. The won the game 44-36 securing 3rd placed in the tournament. Top scorer was Madlen A with 18 points.

The Senior Team would like to thank juniors Tazjha D and Jessica L for coming up to play with us this weekend. Special recognition also goes to Madlen A and Spencer M who were named tournament All-Stars. Up next for the Senior Team is the South Island Championships after mid-term on February 17th and 18th. For now, the girls are looking forward to a well-deserved rest over the break.
