The senior girls basketball team had a successful 2008-09 season. Highlights include finishing 2nd in league play, a silver medal at the ISA Championships, a 2nd place finish at the Shawnigan Lake School tournament, and a victory over Gulf Islands in their final league game. Wins and losses aside, the team continued to learn and improve over the course of the season. Hard work, strong rebounding, patience, and aggressiveness all helped the team to achieve success. The season came to a close at the North Island Tournament at Mark R. Isfeld School where Brentwood was defeated by Carihi (#2 “AA” team on the Island) and Kwalikum. Players of the game for the tournament were team captain Devan Young (Grade 12) and starting point guard Denesha Doman (Grade 10). Missing from the tournament was Grade 11 starting centre Siobhan Willow. With four Grade 10’s, three Grade 11’s, and a group of enthusiastic juniors on this year's senior team, the future looks bright for Brentwood girls basketball.
