Senior Girls Basketball Perform at Provincials

26 March 2023
Ms Jillian Napier, Coach
The Senior Girls Basketball team completed their Provincial Championship Tournament last week with three wins and a loss.

They lost by six in a battle with 5th seed in their opening game vs St. Thomas More Collegiate despite a valiant comeback with five 3-pointers and game high 19 points from Jensa NG.

They then went on a run, beating 13th seed Abby Christian by 26, led by Player of the Game Miranda NP; then knocked off 8th seed Kalamalka by 11 in semifinals - POG Jensa NG;  and in their final contest beat Pacific Academy by 9 with POG Ruby M.

Highlights of the tournament included Miranda scoring a career high 38 points on the one year anniversary of her ACL injury, supporting our friends from PCS who earned a silver at provies, hot cross buns, earning Silver at ISAs, morning activations, having a bench that "slayed", having a historic season with our third consecutive trip to Provincials, and the best finish for the Sr. Girls ever at provies.

Kudos to Kionah the Kid W, Ruby McD, Peyton H, Aysha D and Simret S who all played special roles in the team's success and will continue to build on the program's momentum next year.

I would like to bid a fond farewell to our Grade 12s: Beluchi O, Sophie H, Amelie B, Sylvia E, Kiara J, and special thanks and big hugs to our super-lifers and Co-Captains, who were inspirational leaders and builders of the girls basketball program over the past five years, Miranda NP and Jensa NG.

Full-court slay, girls!
