Senior Girls Basketball
This past week, the Senior Girls Basketball team competed against Shawnigan Lake School on Tuesday and attended the tournament hosted by Shawnigan over the weekend.
With one of our starting post players, Tajzha D, injured, battling against strong teams on the Island had been no easy task. Brentwood, hence, sensed the urgency to play with a stronger and more unified mentality. With the help of a couple of juniors playing up for us at the tournament, we gave our best, playing against Shawnigan, Cedar and Mt. Douglas Secondary School.
Although the results we desired we not achieved, we have improved and persevered as a unit. Our defense showed improvement and we played off of each other with trust. Communication became a tool rather than a barrier. We’ve learned lessons that cannot be taught in practice and are ready for our next battles.
With our league record now at one victory and one loss, it is essential for us to play well against SLS and GISS in our final two league games in order to secure an advantageous position in the South Island Tournament. We look forward to hosting Shawnigan, our local rival, for our Showcase game this Thursday night and showing them our true colours.
