Senior boys soccer continue their winning ways

The senior boys soccer team travelled to perennially strong Saltspring on Tuesday and came away with a 2-1 victory. Playing in a beautiful autumn afternoon, Nick Philippson took a direct route to goal, striding past a number of Saltspring players before outpacing the last defender and coolly slotting home the opening goal. The home team was soon back in the game when a lack of concentration allowed them to draw even midway through the second half. The game then almost slipped away when a Saltspring player beat the charging Brentwood keeper to the ball and fired at an empty net only to have Eric Skoretz dramatically clear the ball off the line with a heroic lunge. The game was ultimately decided on a cross from Luke Damron into the box where Wam Huis in 't Veld headed the ball smartly into the back of the net. The team entertains another top side this Thursday (2nd October) when Brentwood hosts Kwalikum. Kick off is at 3:15 p.m.
