Senior Boys Advance to Islands

Tuesday, February 22, 2011 - By: black.gage

Over the weekend, the Senior Boys basketball team competed in the South Island Playoffs.  After an opening round win, the boys faced a powerful Lambrick Park team in the semi-final.  It was a hard fought affair and while the Brentwood team hung tough, they never quite took the lead in the fourth and suffered a 65-56 defeat.

In order to keep their season alive, the team had to bounce back with a game against Esquimalt at 9:30 am on Saturday morning. The team came out aggressively, built a 25 point half time lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 77-41 win. In the bronze medal game, Brentwood squared off against local rivals Shawnigan Lake School. With both teams fatigued, it was key contributions off the bench that allowed the team to secure a 61-48 victory.
Brentwood has now qualified for the Island Championship in Ladysmith, Feb 24-26.  Their first game is against Highland at 7:15 pm this coming Thursday, Feb 24th.
