Second XV Tops Kelsey

Monday, April 08, 2013 -

On Thursday, April 4th, Brentwood’s Second XV Rugby team battled against Frances Kelsey’s First XV on Gillespie Field. Despite poor weather conditions, Brentwood managed to come out with the victory. Counter-rucking, powerful scrums, and well-timed plays from the lads led to many breaks through the opposition’s defensive line. By half-time Brentwood led 21-0.

In the second half, Brentwood came out hard; however our weakened defense led to several Kelsey tries. Some of the more inexperienced players subbed in to the game for Brentwood, impressing both the coaches and their teammates. The boys showed their skills and fought back, scoring another three tries.

Thomas S slotted five of his six conversions, missing only one wide kick that hit the post. Despite Kelsey’s tries, the Brentwood players kept their heads high and continued to battle until the final whistle. The final score was 40-15.
