Last Saturday evening, groupings of white tents lined the plaza, as this year’s SPARC and BEAT members prepared for the annual Fun Fair. With the prospects of face painting, limbo, Twister and, of course, the grand finale of pie throwing, the event proved to be a grand success. As the sea of faces ranging from Grades 9 to 12 gathered under the stars to celebrate the start of a great year, everyone could tell that this year was going to be even better than the last.  Some highlights from the event are not limited to but most definitely include new student, Valentine E, covering Head of School, Mr. Patel’s face in a cream mask as a result of pie throwing and watching heads swing side to side as determined students attempted to swallow dangling sugar-coated doughnuts in as few bites as possible. After a few hours of face painting, cotton candy consuming, and seeing how ‘low’ many of the boys could actually go, faculty and students alike gathered at the water’s edge for some sticky treats and laughter while a campfire burned in the center of the festivities.  Put on by the school’s environmental group, BEAT, the campfire proved to be an enormous success with many students enticed by the promise of new friends, warmth, and sweet treats. The evening wrapped up around ten o’clock when younger students were called back to their dorms. Thank you all for a wonderful night and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did!
