Run Rona Run

27 September 2010
After participating in the annual Terry Fox run for her 6th time, lifer Rona Mitchell (Class of 2009) spoke with a group of four current Brentwood students eager to learn of her post-secondary experiences. Rona has just completed her first year studying chemical engineering at Oxford, one of the world’s leading universities.

The eager quartet of the Class of 2011 who are interested in applying to Oxford or Cambridge squeezed around a table and listened to Rona’s experience and advice, hoping to learn something that could help them with their application process.

Rona explained that what makes Oxford and Cambridge unique is the collegiate system through which a prospective student applies to a resident house, also known as a college. Rona was accepted into St. Hugh’s College. Students must also make the very difficult decision between Oxford or Cambridge, as they are only permitted to apply to one. We wish our applicants the best of luck and Rona another fantastic year at Oxford!

The picture attached is taken at Magdalen College and shows Rona on the right. To the left is our other Brentonian at Oxford: Caroline McLean (grad 2008) who is in her final year of Human Sciences and is a member of St Catherine's College.
