Rugby Season Proceeding at 200 miles/hour

30 April 2009
Tony Healy
The beginning of the Brentwood rugby season has been incredibly hectic. The boys toured France over Spring Break and impressed French rugby aficionados with their flamboyant and daring style of play. They were victorious over club teams that boasted professional infrastructures and drew talent from entire regions, not simply a school. Since returning to home soil, the 1st XV has maintained a torrid pace through the first part of the season and (except for the first week) have played on average of two games per week, dominating every game but one and outscoring their opponents 153-41. Their record to date is 3 wins and 1 loss in league play. Most recently, the team won convincingly over local rivals Ladysmith with a score of 42-5. This Friday (1st May) at 6:15 p.m., the boys will face their arch-rivals Shawnigan Lake School. The match-up promises to be the most anticipated of the season as rugby pundits from throughout the Province look upon the two teams as favourites for their respective Provincial Championships.
