Rugby girls open the season well.

9 April 2009
Jim Burrows
On Tuesday, the girls rugby team opened their 2009 league season with a convincing win at Stellys Secondary School in Saanich. Led by Rona Mitchell and Dylan Kent, the team moved the ball about the field with skill and precision. They supported one another on attack consistently and scored a number of elegant tries. Newcomers Dani Robb and Andrea Comerford scored in their first game while Martina Edney had a strong game at flanker with her parents on the sideline. In the second half, we substituted liberally so that all players were able to gain valuable experience and gain confidence. The forward pack, led by Sarah Barber and Megan Crump controlled the set pieces and ran well with the ball in hand. Next Tuesday, we host Shawnigan Lake School at 3:30 p.m. on Gillespie Field, an opponent which will test our mettle to the full. We hope to see you out there to support the girls.
