Rugby: 1st XV open the Provincial Championship tournament with a bang!

Sunday, May 25, 2008 - By: Tony Healy

This past Saturday saw the 1st XV begin its quest for the Provincial Rugby Championship with style. Making their first appearance in the championship round since the late 70s, Victoria High School were simply overpowered by the quicker and more skilled Brentwood team. The final score saw Brentwood running away with a 77-0 win behind a dominant display of flowing rugby. Despite the heavy scoreline, Victoria were still able to test our boys in several physically demanding areas of the game, at times winning Brentwood ball in the tackle area. Even more determination, concentration and positive aggression will be needed if the team are to bring home a Provincial Championship banner. The next game sees Brentwood facing Rick Hansen High School (ranked 8th) this Wednesday (28th May) at UBC Wolfson Field 3. The game starts at 11:00 a.m.
