Rowing: British Columbia won the final event of the Canada Summer Games Regatta in, perhaps, the most exciting race in Summer Games history. The BC eight contained two Brentwood grads and one current Brentwood student. Noah O'Connell and Spencer Crowley (both 2007) sat in the stern pair of the eight. Eric Jackson, entering Grade 12 this September, sat in five seat. Going into the final, BC had the fastest time, three seconds ahead of Ontario. In a photo finish, BC won the gold medal 0.16 seconds ahead of Ontario. British Columbia crossed the line in 3:27.71 with Ontario at 3:27.87. This was sweet revenge for the three Brentonians. Two hours earlier, the three teamed up with Jason Cartwright from Lantzville and won the silver medal 0.51 seconds behind the crew from Ontario. Spencer and Noah finish off their Games experience with two gold and a silver while Eric finishes off with two silver and a gold. Spencer does not have much of a holiday as his university classes start on Monday at the University of California Berkeley where he is starting his third year. Noah will be returning to the University of Washington at the end of September to start his third year. Eric will get a few weeks off before starting his Grade 12 year back here. Rugby: Nick Philippson and Will Hindson (both 2009) will play in the gold medal match for rugby tomorrow morning.
Other Games notes:
