"The thing about the tour is the amazing comraderie. Teams & friends support each other, but there's a communal spirit that is catching. I was amazed in my first year: there were 250 riders and 52 volunteers! That's a huge ratio of volunteers to participants. Perhaps, that's why everyone feels supported." - 3-time participant On Saturday August 8th, the Rona MS Bike Tour began here at our school, with over 350 people biking around the Cowichan Valley for the day, stopping at local vineyards, specialty farms, and points of interest. The purpose of this two-day bike tour (organized by Anne Muir, a '76 alumna) was to raise money for the MS Society of Canada with the added benefit of showcasing the beauty of our local region. This year the teams raised an outstanding $390,000, surpassing last year's total of $325,000. After arriving back at campus on Saturday evening, teams were invited to attend a gourmet buffet dinner, dance, and silent auction. For eight years Brentwood has hosted this event, providing accommodation for 300 of the participants in the student residences or camping spots on the campus.
