Rogers House 1

“Rogers House is the sweetest house” agreed many students.

The Rogers crew rises at the sound of the bell at 7:00 am and departs to eat a delicious breakfast at Crooks Hall. Once they return, they begin to tidy their dorms to get ready for the morning inspection; some of them have morning chores such as vacuuming the hall or emptying the garbage. By 7:50 am, the prefects on duty inspect each dorm and house chores to make sure they are done properly. Once the bell hits 8:10 am, Rogers sailors march to the hallway and greet our Captain, Mr Snow and his Assistant, Mr Thompson, on their way to the morning class.

When the boys return from their sports and arts, Rogers House becomes lively again. In the common room, students enjoy playing pool with their peers. Others gather around on the TV and enjoy their free time.

Some students go to the Galley, which is a unique facility only in Rogers House. The Galley is where people can buy a can of soda or small snacks for a relatively cheap price. It is run by Galley Prefects Andrew Garnett, and his assistants.

Rogers House has a ritual on how we celebrate our crew’s birthday. Whenever it is someone’s birthday at Roger's House, we all gather around and sing the Happy Birthday song at the top of our lungs. I think this represents the spirit of us pirates at its finest.

Rogers House benefits the most in the Springtime. There is a rugby field right outside where everybody vibes and chills forgetting about school. Sadly, this year, Covid-19 situation made it difficult to experience this oasis-like experience. However, Rogers House’s spirits have made no changes. Our House Meeting via Zoom were as lively as it was. We have a Discord server where every Roger's Crew can feel free to talk amongst themselves and experience a virtual common room. We also have a Minecraft Server where we pop in after our class to meet each other virtually and play around as we would be doing in the rugby field.
Finally, I want to thank everyone who is part of Roger’s House for keeping this spirit alive. I’m looking forward to gathering around again and sharing our quarantine experience, in Rogers House.
