Robotics Takes Centre Stage

Monday, February 15, 2016 - By: Edna Widenmaier

All three of our competitive robotics teams made it to the playoffs at the most recent provincial qualification tournament in Comox, with one team earning a coveted berth in the Provincial Championships and also being invited to the U.S. Open. Mr. Doehler, Mr. Campbell and Mr. Wardrop are proud of the countless hours of overtime evening and weekend work some of our teams have put in through the competitive season to design, test, problem solve, retest, and improve both their hardware and software in their hunt for glory, and maybe a chance to represent Brentwood at the World Championships in April!

We are also celebrating success in the Debate Programme with a return from VMUN recently with four significant awards. This is the largest MUN in North America that is run by students. In addition to this accomplishment, eight students recently qualified for Provincials in Debate at the Regionals Tournament.

Debate is also hosting the Scholar's Cup Day on Feb. 20. This is a brand new initiative for our school and how it does it's part in growing public speaking in students from all over Cowichan Valley.
