We welcome Samantha Pearse into Alex House as our new RFA; we are all very excited to have her here.

Ms Pearse was born in Vancouver and grew up in Kamloops. When she was ten, her cousin started at Brentwood, and Samantha was immediately obsessed and begged her parents to let her go as well.

In 2011 Ms Pearse joined Brentwood as a full-time boarder in Mackenzie House. It became her home, as it is to so many of us. And she always knew she wanted to come back and become an RFA one day.

Ms. Pearse graduated from Brentwood in 2015 and went to Utah to study political science at Brigham Young University. She says that it was a massive change to move to such a conservative state.

Then an exciting opportunity rolled around for Ms Pearse; she got to do a Brexit research program in the UK for three months where she discovered her love for research. She wrote a beautiful book while she was there, but it is still in its final stages.

When Covid hit, Ms Pearse decided to move back home and help take care of her family. Although she got a degree, she wasn’t quite sure what to do with her life. Then an RFA spot came up, and Ms Pearse took the chance right away and moved back to Mill Bay. She said, “What a better place to find out than where I first found out about everything in life - Brentwood. I felt a little like the new kid and a new student all over again.”

Ms Pearse helps with major exams, covers classes, coaches cross-training, does breakfast duty, and so much more.

All the Alex girls are so grateful to have such a fantastic RFA and we can’t wait for what the future holds with Ms Pearse.
