Regatta's Gourmet Grind

Today at Brentwood College School, we are kicking off the 49th Annual Brentwood Regatta! This exciting event features live music, including sets from Brentwood students, a weekend of impressive rowing competition between international rowing clubs, and, of course, an extensive variety of cuisine created by the chefs of this year’s Entrepreneurship Class. The Entrepreneurship students have worked extremely hard this year on their booths in preparation for this weekend; we highly recommend making your way down to McLaren Plaza to experience great music, incredible food, and a fantastic weekend of racing!  Here are our recommendations for some sweet and savoury treats. Crepe Factory Fresh crepes made to order right before your eyes! The boys at the Crepe Factory will take care of you right away, offering both sweet and savoury crepes to satisfy any cravings you might have! “Simple, yet elegant. They know what they are doing and they’re doing it well. It would be a perfect morning snack” smacked Haley H. Here you’ll experience friendly service, a delicious treat, and you’ll walk away saying “Holy crepe, this is good?” Fry Time What day is it today? Fry-Day! “The fries are definitely a crowd favourite. They would couple well with something else” says photographer and connoisseur Will M. These fries are wonderful both on their own, as well as paired with menu items from the other booths! Excellent service, efficient serving time, and incredible fries served with a smile every single time! Holey Donuts “Holey, you do-nut want to miss out on these donuts!” says reviewer, Zjaya D. Make your way down to Holey Donuts to get a sweet shot of sugar before some great racing and entertainment. “They are enough that you could be happy with one bag, but you go back for more.” The crew at this booth has put together an awesome food experience for their customers, and will be sure to provide you with a snack you will never forget! Hot Diggity Dog This booth’s name perfectly sums up how your taste-buds will be feeling after biting into one of their gourmet hot dogs! The team at Hot Diggity Dog will hand you a perfectly prepared meal right off their menu, which offers a variety of gourmet dogs, including their feature “New York Style” hot dog! Each bite is filled with great flavour, and will leave you wanting more! Calvo Burrito What did the taco say to the burrito? “Wanna have a wrap battle?” It will definitely be a battle trying to decide between burrito or a taco bag here at Calvo Burrito. Either one will taco-ver your taste buds and have you running back for more! Head on down for a fantastic, flavourful meal, served up by some talented young chefs! The Meltdown Hungry? Feeling like you might have a meltdown? Head towards The Meltdown for a crispy, golden grilled cheese made by Brentwood’s finest! Their hot, cooked-to-perfection sandwiches will leave you more than satisfied. If grilled cheese isn’t enough to make you melt, their featured coffee from local extravaganza, Drum Roaster Coffee, is to die for! Go find them for an early morning pick-me-up, or an afternoon meal this weekend! Asian Invasion The Asian Invasion is packed off the start and is proving to be some quality food! Try and catch them while they aren’t too busy! Their stir fry and fried rice has many options, such as vegetarian, beef, chicken or even just build your own. Cooked to perfection right in front of you, your meal will be bursting with flavour as the group serves up a fun, tasty, and wonderful dish for anyone to enjoy!  5 Fried Guys Chicken Strips Why did the chicken cross the road? To enjoy a great weekend here at the 49th Annual Brentwood Regatta! Chicken strips are a classic favourite and are easy to enjoy while browsing around the rest of what the Brentwood Regatta has to offer. The team here will greet you with a smile and be playing some of everyone’s favourite tunes, entertaining you while you wait for your strips that will be cooked to perfection! The Breakfast Shack Having an egg-istenstial crisis? Head on down to the Breakfast Shack! The Brentwood Regatta starts bright and early, so make sure you swing by the breakfast shack for either an item from the Main Menu or the Grab-n-Go Menu. “The breakfast sandwich was done very well. The bacon was perfectly crisp”, says Mr. Ganley after a savoury taste test! There are a variety of options for you to choose from, so if you go back for seconds there is always something new to try!  Come on down to Mclaren Plaza and enjoy the fresh air, the great music, exciting racing and wonderful food.
