Regatta Food Review

The students in Brentwood’s Entrepreneurship 12 courses have been planning all year to treat our Regatta visitors and athletes to fresh and tasty meals on Founder’s Plaza overlooking the race course. A team of finely tuned palettes have savoured their wares and below are reviews of what’s sweet and what’s savoury. The Grilled Cheese Shack provided a hearty option to the sweets. Their breakfast sandwich was a protein-packed combo of grilled cheese, bacon and egg. The bread was light and fluffy, yet golden and crisp. This is a great refueling option for rowers seeking high carbs and muscle-refreshing protein. Bubble Buddie’s waffles (we opted for peanut butter and banana, but there’s also Nutella) had perfect presentation and their booth is visually appealing. Approach this booth with patience; the waffles are served fresh and can take some time to prepare.  The BT Boys served up Beaver Tails, Canada’s favourite addition to the culinary world. The deep fried crunch paired with brown sugar and cinnamon is a sweet treat in our recent summer weather. Beaver tails are very satisfying to one’s sweet tooth, and it is recommended that this heavenly treat be shared among two hungry friends. The Candy Shack has a wide variety of sweet options to choose from. We sampled both the ice cream and cotton candy - perhaps something that can be shared with a crewmate or coach - reminded us, happily, of childhood days at a summer carnival. The churros from Churro Borough are a perfect combination of chewy and crunchy. This classic carnival snack is one that anyone will enjoy. The booth offers a variety of toppings for whatever satisfies your sweet tooth, and you’re sure to walk away satisfied.  @Fauvet’s Premium Crepes offered an assortment of toppings to choose from (we went with the classic Nutella & Banana). This booth provided quick service that made the warm crepes even more enjoyable. These sweet treats are perfect to warm yourself up after coming off the water, or after facing the wind while watching a race by the ocean.  Just Strip is serving up hot chicken strips and fries. One can order a combo of three or five strips with fries, and you can select from five different sauce options. When you bite into the hot, crispy fries, the fluffy potato will wow your taste buds.
