“Red”
Heart, passion, dedication, and tragedy are just a few words brought to mind while watching John Logan’s “Red”. On September 26, 19 students traveled to the Belfry Theatre in Victoria to witness this mind-broadening play as part of their Theatre Production course. “Red” is the story of Mark Rothko, a Russian-American painter during the 1950s, and his assistant, Ken.
Together, they explore the world of commercialism and what it means to be an artist. From a production standpoint, the play makes excellent use of its resources: using only two actors and a few simple lighting changes, “RED” was able to show us how less really can be more.
Thanks to Mr. Armitage and Ms. Reburn who led the adventure and a shout-out to Mr. Luna who was an artistic consultant for the play.
