With a varying range of ages, heights, and basketball ability, recreational basketball takes on all enthusiastic hoopsters with a desire to show their skills on the hardwood. With a mixture of skills, games, and cardio, this third term sport brings athletes from many different backgrounds under one backboard.  A fun, semi-competitive atmosphere is created by the senior athletes, where games of horse and 1-on-1 are played solely for the bragging rights to be shared amongst our peers. For the younger students, the development is more serious, working hard to develop their basketball ability, as well as make an impression on Mr. Gage, our senior boys basketball coach. “It is not all fun and games” the wily veterans of rec ball will tell you: the dreaded cardio session during the last few minutes of practice is the ultimate test of both skill and fitness. Every player takes a freethrow; the stakes are high. With third term bringing on more milkshakes than milk runs, this is serious fun for everyone involved in recreational basketball. Mr. Gage smiles sinisterly at this time, soaking up every moment of the cardio session.  Recreational basketball will continue to make players better, and create long lasting friendships.
