On Thursday June 1st, five eager Brentwood students hopped into Mr. Griffiths’ van to take part in the BC Provincial Track Meet. Accompanied by Mrs. Reynolds, we began our travels to Abbotsford, BC. These boys would later be joined by Keiran MH, Rogers ‘17 who was also a member of the Senior Boys Rugby team which earned a silver at the AA Provincial Rugby Championship.

Even though most of our team was competing against racers a year older, we went into the meet with confidence and came out with strong results.

After each day of the meet, we went back to our hotel and enjoyed a satisfying bonding team dinner.  It was a very fun experience and the returning boys will have big hopes as we’ll come back older, stronger, and more experienced. Congratulations to the entire track team on a significant meet and season.

Our results from the Provincials were:

Keiran M-H, Rogers ‘17 jumped 1.85m in high jump to lead the team with a very impressive top 5 finish, barely missing out on a medal.

Tyler D, Whittall ‘17 ran a very fast 53.93 in his 400m to finish 20th.

Femi A, Rogers ‘18 unfortunately sprained his ankle in the middle of his 110m hurdles run but still finished 28th.

Ope A, Rogers ‘19 ran a 53.86 in his 400m against a strong field, finishing the meet 16th.

Torren K, Privett ‘20 sprinted a 12.49 100m running into a very strong headwind, finishing 24th.

Tony E, Grade 8, jumped an impressive 1.65m in his high jump event, finishing 14th.

Interhouse Track & Field is soon and these guys are definitely someone to look out for.
