Brentwood sent its Track & Field team to the University of Victoria last week to compete in the Vancouver Island Track meet. This meet is a follow up from the Mid-Island track meet and also the decider of which athletes from Vancouver Island will be competing in the BC Provincial Track meet in June.

A top 5 finish in your event is the milestone each athlete must reach to be allowed to compete at provincials. Coming off a strong Mid-Island meet, our athletes were ready to compete.

Despite having a handful of our strong athletes being restricted with injuries, Brentwood still came out of the meet with positive results. Some of our athletes came out with top 5 finishes while a handful of others finished with strong top 10 results. Congratulations to the following athletes for qualifying for the provincial meet:

Tyler D, Whittall ’17 (400m/4x100m), Luke H, Whittall ’18  (4x100m), Torren K, Privett ’20 (100m/4x100m), Keiran M-H, Rogers ‘17 (High Jump), Femi A, Rogers ’18 (110m hurdles/4x100m), Ope A, Rogers ’19 (400m/4x100m), & Tony E, Grade 8 (High Jump)

“It was a fun experience meeting new people and competing against them. I’m excited to compete at Provincials in June” said Femi A, Rogers ‘18

Congratulations to the entire team for a good meet and a thanks to Coach Heisterman, Reynolds, Griffiths, and Skardal for their individual work with the team.
