Provincial Medals for Tennis Teams

20 July 2016
Mrs. Marci McLean, Coach
The Junior and Senior Tennis teams both had very successful seasons. At the 2016 Junior Provincial Championships the Junior Boys narrowly missed a medal finishing 4th, while the Junior Girls finished their season with a 3rd place finish bringing home the Bronze medals. The Senior team, whose season consisted of an ISA Silver medal and an Island Tennis Championship, finished their season with the Silver medal at the BC School Sports Provincial Tennis Championships. The team played strongly throughout the tournament defeating Richmond High School and Holy Cross Secondary to win their pool. This was followed by wins over West Point Grey in the quarterfinals and a strong Southridge team in the semifinals.  Next up were the finals versus the defending champions, Collingwood. After a hard-fought match, the score was 6-5 in favour of Collingwood with the Brentwood team forced to settle for the silver medal. Although the final result was disappointing, it was a terrific season for the team. Another highlight of the tournament was Nancy M and Juliane B earning their spot as the top girls’ double team after finishing the tournament undefeated.   With many returning players and strong juniors moving up, the team is looking forward to next year. Also, congratulations to the Angus and Porter Cup winners and finalists: Christopher C, Leon S, Nancy M, Juliane B, Federico C, Nick P, Faye L, and Tochukwu A. Mrs. Marci McLean, Coach
