Productive Prep

With two weeks of classes done and assignments due, prep has instilled temporary silence in the boarding houses.

Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 9:30 pm students are required to settle down and tackle the homework they’ve been tasked with. Getting work done during this time is made easy through Grade 12 Prefects and Brentwood staff ensuring students don’t get distracted. The proactive learning environment, perfect for students, is created through the strict enforcement of no phones, gaming, and watching noneducational videos. There’s really no better time for students to get their studying in.

Although seniors don't need the guidance of teachers to keep them on track as much, prep is just as much value to them since “It ensures two hours of complete silence which can be extremely beneficial when dealing with challenging work and a heavy course load” observed Ramona J, Alexandra ‘22.

In Whittall House, once the boys get settled into prep, it becomes an “opportunity to focus on academics individually and in the second half to work collaboratively with other members of the house to complete individual and group assignments. The opportunity to work in a silent environment allows the student to focus solely on the subject they are working on without any distractions” commented Mr Brian Carr - who has been both a student and teacher at Brentwood. With different staff on duty every night, Whittall House students have the opportunity to get assistance in a wide range of subjects.

Prep presents students with an excellent opportunity to get work done. Students appreciate the countless benefits prep has making it an integral part of Brentwood boarding life.
