Privett Blue

As the end of the year approaches, even in these unprecedented times, Privett has shown why we are the most unique house. It can be heard around campus: “There go the Privett House boys”. The brothers of Privett were bonded by the cold and rainy winter months, the stern looks from staff as many of us forgot the dress code, and the love and respect of one another.

From Water Pong and the Terry Fox Run to Eco-Challenge and Cross Country, the start to the year was as normal as we could have asked for. It seemed like yesterday when new boys came rushing through our doors and in the blink of an eye, those strangers became friends, those friends became best friends, and those best friends? You guessed it, they became brothers.

This year has been like no other: the pandemic and limited breaks have really emphasized the importance of Grit and Joy. Under the wings of our trusted and charismatic Houseparents, we have pushed through the hardships as a house which has made the boys even closer than most years. The 9s, calm and mature, added soft melodic guitar through the upper west hallway. The 10s, a large group of guys with big hearts and a desire to be the best, will make excellent leaders. The 11s: there is no other group of guys I would feel more comfortable handing over the reigns of Privett House to. I expect big things out of these young men: their compassion and easy going-ness will make them great Prefects. To my fellow 12s, it has been one heck of a ride. Goodbyes are always hard, but the time we have had here has been unforgettable and has shaped us into the young men we are today. I have no doubt that our memories and friendships will persist for years in the blue halls.

What are a bunch of teenage boys without supervision? “Inevitable chaos” observed Dutymaster Doug Branchflower. A huge thank you to our duty staff who have kept us alive and in one piece. You are an essential part of our Privett family! We are forever in debt to you for your time and commitment.
