Rowers preparing to race

The 2013 World Under 23 Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria finished yesterday, on Sunday, July 28. There are no Brentwood alum on the Canadian team this year, but we have two alum competing for Germany.

Jan Bernhard, 2011-2012, stroked the Brentwood 8+ and Quad to two silver medals at CSSRA in June 2012. He rowed at the Head of the Charles with Martin Barakso ‘12 grad and placed 3rd in 2011. He is presently rowing in three seat of the Under 23 German coxed four and earned a bronze medal at this U23 World Championships.

Ruben Steinhardt, 2010-2011, won the Head of the Charles in the Junior double with Martin Barakso ‘12 grad in October 2010. Their time broke the course record by 37 seconds. Ruben rowed in the Varsity quad and eight, however, he had to return to Germany in the spring, so did not get an opportunity to race at the CSSRA's. Ruben raced in the German Under 23 quad and earned a bronze medal at this U23 World Championships.

Congratulations to Ruben and Jan from all of us here at Brentwood College School.
