While half the Junior Girls Basketball squad ventured up to Nanaimo this past weekend to play in a tournament at VIU (which they won, more on that in another article) the other half made their way down to Spectrum and Claremont high schools to take part in the Victoria Tip-off Tournament.

This was a big deal for the girls, given it was the first time in quite a while that a Brentwood Junior Girls team had been invited. The team used this opportunity to show the Island what Brentwood basketball has to offer. We finished the tournament 3-1, our only loss to the eventual tournament champions, AAAA Belmont Secondary, 40-31. That was the closest anyone got to Belmont. Two of our three wins were over AAAA schools Spectrum and WJ Mouat, by 20 points each.

When asked her opinion on the tournament, Alex H, Hope ‘22 exclaimed “I loved the energy and excitement that the whole team showed.” This was a great turnout for the ladies and we look forward to the upcoming home games this week.
