It is the time of the year when we break free for a few days and go back to our nests to reset and refuel from the challenges of the start of the school year. Term 1 has been a haven for arts, sports, and academics. Let’s highlight some of the achievements and events we have had. So, without further ado, here are some of our highlights of the beginning of the year:

We started the year successfully on September 4, 2019 when the Orientation Assistants arrived on campus and set up activities and stations for the new students. The highlight of this day included the Fun & Games that were cheerfully led by Mr. Rodrigues. The next event included our annually competitive Eco-Challenge in which participants from all houses took part in challenges on water and survival skill tests on land. On Friday, everyone even went to their classes and were introduced to their teachers, as well as arts instructors and sports coaches.

Brentwood offers many social opportunities along with its academic opportunities and pursuits. The SAC has hosted a Fun Fair and Bubble Soccer to allow everyone to participate. We also hosted water pong to raise funds. The greatest highlight of fundraising included the Run for the Cure in which more than a hundred students participated. That was more than double the individuals we had on our roster last year.

Brentwood also celebrates different cultures with international dinners. To start the year, we had a Saudi Arabia dinner where students who live in the kingdom were able to host and share their experience with everyone at Brentwood throughout the day with their food and their festive clothing. We have also enjoyed dinners of Nigerian and German cuisine.

To end the first five weeks, we had a schoolwide Thanksgiving dinner to show our gratitude towards the things in our life we are grateful for. Philip A, Rogers ‘20, exclaimed, “This is the best dinner I have ever had at Brentwood!” The event featured a festive dinner and music by some of our top singers and musicians.

As we go to break and reconnect with our families, it is essential to reflect on what we are thankful for and rejuvenate for the remainder of term 1.
