Olympic Commemorative Inukshuk

6 January 2010

A cedar inukshuk has been erected in the middle of our school's campus. This sculpture was built in eight hours by Ken Witt, a member of our Grounds team. Ken is a chainsaw carver who typically creates animals, such as bears and pelicans. Held together by maple dowling, this seven foot inukshuk will last for decades, although perhaps not in the center of the campus! (More information about this traditional form of Canadian sculpture can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inukshuk) Brentwood has a strong connection to the Olympics, with twenty-three of our graduates participating in previous Games. A full list of Brentwood Olympians can be found on our wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brentwood_College_School
