MusicFest and Concert for A Summer’s Eve

1 June 2011

Recently Brentwood's Pops Orchestra conducted by Elizabeth MacIsaac and Phil Newns' Jazz Band brought home silvers from the prestigious National MusicFest Canada, which, in partnership with the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, was held in Richmond this year. This week-long festival is now the largest of its kind in North America and provides a forum where young musicians and educators can share their talents and passion for music.
All the musicians were selected through regional competitions and festivals. Approximately 450,000 young musicians across Canada began the journey back in September and 10,000 arrived in Richmond for the final leg of the competition. In addition to the silvers, Jon H received Honours for Jazz performance.
You will be able to experience these two musical ensembles, along with other fine student vocalists and instrumentalists, at our upcoming showcase Concert for a Summer's Eve on Friday, June 10. Curtain is at 7:30pm. Although there is no admission charge, we would appreciate you reserving online to guarantee a seat. Go to tgb.brentwood.bc.ca and follow the links.
