Entering into its 47th year of celebrating excellence, MusicFest Canada, The Nationals, brings thousands of students and educators from across the country together, over a one week period, to celebrate excellence in musical performance.
It is an invitation only event: outstanding ensembles are invited to attend from affiliated regional and provincial festivals. This year Brentwood was represented by three of our ensembles at this prestigious event in Ottawa and each group won top awards. Thanks to Mrs Felix, Mr Newns and Mr McGill for chaperoning this trip and supporting the musicians through a very busy, dynamic week of performances, classes and workshops.
The Jazz Band, Captained by Sam S, won Bronze in their division while drummer Jeremy H was a National Honour musician.
The Advanced Rock Band won Silver and a National Honour Award was also presented to bassist Benjamin S.
The Almost A Cappella group of Didi O, Desola O, Indiana W, Alannah G, Leah A & Janessa P achieved the highest ranking of Gold. This success also includes the terrific back up band of Ben R, Book P, Benjamin S and Jeremy H. Didi was Captain and she also won a National Honour award.
We are very proud of their achievements and acknowledge the journey that each one of these musicians has taken individually and as part of an ensemble team to reach the excellence that allowed for these wins.
