Mighty Mice are Mid-Island Champions!

14 November 2008

On a perfect November afternoon, the Grade 8 rugby team played their last (ever) game as Mice against George Bonner School for the title of Mid-Island champions. Brentwood scored two excellent trys in the first half through passing and support play that saw the whole team involved.
With the score tied 10-10 at half time, the stage was set for a nail-biting final 30 minutes.
The physically powerful Bonner team then went ahead with a penalty kick, but Brentwood stormed back to score two trys as the sun went down on their final season.
The final score was 24-13 with trys from Roger Anderson, captain Randall Barton (2) and Alejandro Alvarez, who also scored two goals. It was a fitting end to a long tradition of mice competition and a performance that bodes well for Brentwood rugby in the years to come.
