To end off an intense season, the Senior Girls Basketball team competed in the South Islands Tournament from Feb. 9 to Feb. 11. As the tournament coincided with their mid-term break, the girls showed commitment to their cause, giving up the first three days of their break to compete for a spot at Islands. The tournament was double elimination, meaning that the girls had to lose two games in order to be eliminated. The tournament came with both highs and lows: the team celebrated when Frankie A, Allard ‘18 scored her first two baskets of the season, and after coming off a very close loss to St. Michael’s University School, the girls bounced back, breezing through their next two game with back-to-back wins. This, however, was not enough to guarantee them a spot to Islands; the girls had one more chance to compete for the final spot: a game against Wellington.  The team started off strong, managing to get a lead. Unfortunately, the girls were not only missing some key players, but several starters players, including Captain Chidinma A, Alex ‘17 also got into foul trouble, making the rest of the game far more difficult. The girls ended up losing a close game to Wellington: they fought their hardest to the very last minute, ending off the season with a bang. Thanks to all of my teammates, Assistant Coach Doman and Coach Warner for their efforts all season long. Glory C, Mackenzie ‘18
