On Tuesday, the Senior Boys Soccer team traveled to Salt Spring Island to take on the GISS Scorpions for Mid-Island supremacy.

Only minutes into the match, a cross was curled onto the outstretched big toe of Erik L, Ellis ‘21 who smashed the ball into the top corner to put BCS ahead 1-0. Several moments later, off a set piece, Arnau T, Ellis ‘20 struck a shot from the top of the penalty area which looked wide of the net, until, once again, Erik redirected it into the back of the GISS net: 2-0.

Early in the second half Gulf Islands equalized with a pair of breakaway goals, catalyzed by wet conditions and a slippery pitch. With 20 minutes remaining in regulation time, Gulf Islands won a questionable free kick, and managed to take advantage: 3-2 GISS.

The comeback began when Callum B, Privett ‘20 - who was playing centre back at the time - made a run up the right wing and planted a cross on the foot of Matthias S, Ellis ‘20 to bring the score even: tied at three. With 6 minutes remaining Jamie T, Ellis ‘20 put the icing on the Mid-Island cake with a strike from outside the 18 yard box, that floated along the surface into the bottom left corner. 4-3 Brentwood. Showtime.

The boys are preparing to host their Showcase game next Tuesday, Oct. 22nd against the North-Island Champions, Kwalikum SS, in one of their final home games of the season. It looks to be a promising match, with some ongoing rivalry from last season’s playoffs.

Be there or be square.
