Despite the nervousness, newness, and chaos of Orientation, the new students of Mackenzie promptly adapted to our house culture. Quickly the hallways lost their awkwardness and became the normal Mack commotion. Further flourishing our house's reputation, we collectively continued to be rambunctious, ludicrous and giggling past quiet time.

As the year moved along, we got to know our new family and the aspects each grade brings to the house. The new Grade 9 boarders learned the expectations of daily inspections - except Rylie and Aisha who are still learning how to pass. Grade 10s doubled in size and were always seen laughing or causing disorder.  Similarly, the 11s are an energetic group, but they do not lack empathy, strength, and potential. With the leadership turning over to them, I know they will be able to take on Prefect roles, stand up for their peers, and make the current 10s be on time for sign-in. Resilience, reliability, and heart are just some of the qualities that this year's Prefects displayed. As leaders and mentors, they consistently and positively maintained authenticity and accountability in the house.

A tremendous amount of the house's well-being and bliss is owed to the Mack duty staff. Ms Cheung, our courageous Houseparent, maintained order and affection. Mr Robinson (Robbie) hosted his weekly Monday night post-prep tea times where stories were shared and memories were made. Wistfully, an early goodbye was said to these sensational leaders as they took off on an “Intrepid Robinsons” adventure traveling the world. Stepping up to be the main Houseparent during 3rd term, Ms Nasmith ensured the enjoyment of the last couple of months. She was accompanied in this role by Mack, the newest dog to the house's pack, and Ms Ramsay, in the Assistant Houseparent position. Ms Ramsay’s kindness and unconditional love truly impacted each individual in a lasting way. Many other Mack staff are also to thank for their compassion and commitment. It was a great year.
