Mack House

26 July 2021

This has been a strange year, but we still welcomed 20 new Mackenzie girls to our house. Little did they expect what the returning 49 girls all knew and loved - that Mack is not just a boarding house, but a home. A home filled with laughter, sometimes chaos, and most all, love for all within.

Almost instantaneously the new and the returning students merged and created lifelong friendships - memories were made. Each group made bonds in and outside of their grades and rose to every obstacle the year had for us. The Grade 9s, initially quiet, have come out of their shells and won a place in each of our hearts. The 10s’ abundant laughter could always be heard ringing down the halls. The 11s rose to the occasion by being role models: the house will be in good hands next year. 12s, although this year was not as we had imagined for our final year of Brentwood, it was memorable nonetheless!

We could not have had such a successful year without our amazing Houseparents and duty staff. Our amazing leaders, Ms Cheung and Ms Nasmith, and the wonderful advisors and duty staff helped us all achieve our full potential academically, artistically, and athletically. Monday nights we all looked forward to tea with Robbie after prep with flavors from around the world; Tuesdays with Ms Ramundi’s homemade treats, and Mack Fams with our incredible RFAs, Ms Ramsay and Ms Bell-Etkin; Wednesday nights with Ms Hampton who graciously helped us all with our math and physics questions; Thursdays with Ms Scheck who soothed everyone along the way.

As we 12s make our departure from Brentwood, we will remember and cherish the memories that have gone along with it. From the laughs to the tears that have been shed listening to “I Won’t Give Up”, we will all look back at our time in Mackenzie House and smile.

We wish you all the best next year and know that Mack House (Best House) will always be there for them to lean on. E-LL-I-S Mack-Ellis is the BEST.
