Mack House Hollywood Party

With winter break in sight, and with students grinding away to finish up all their work before the holidays, the mood on campus is currently one of focused determination. However, for two hours on Saturday evening, that focused determination was replaced by frolicking fun as Mackenzie House hosted their first open house in two years. This year’s theme? Hollywood.

Introduced during Thursday’s assembly in an … interesting video, the theme instructed students to arrive at Mack Open House dressed as celebrities. Some notable costumes included Sophie B, Mack ‘22 as Adam Sandler, and Emily & Amy P, Mack ‘22 as two of the Kardashians (I have no idea which ones).

What followed was a wildly successful open house, full of snacks, dancing, and cup pong. As always, the dance floor was a popular destination for guests, and the DJs certainly brought the heat. For guests from the boys' houses, many simply walked the halls in awe of the sheer size of the place, shocked by the multiple flights of stairs they had to climb to find their way around the labyrinth. Fabian H, Whittall ‘22, was bewildered: “Whittall is so simple. There is one flight of stairs and everything is so open. In Mack, that is not the case. I got lost several times.”

As this was the first Mackenzie Open House to be held since the pandemic, House Captain Rory P, Mack ‘22, had to make sure it was one to remember: “I believe the tone of this year’s Mack Open House was enthusiastic and memorable. As this was the first one since COVID, the eagerness and determination of the house to decorate, help out, and even clean up, was unmatched and remarkable.

Now that four of the eight open houses have been held, a high bar has been set for Alex, Allard, Ellis, and Privett in the new year.
