Junior Tennis Wins Silver and Bronze
At the recent ISA Junior Tennis Tournament hosted by Brentwood, the junior girls and boys both earned medals.
In Junior Girls’ action, the team had matches against Shawnigan, Southridge, and Queen Margaret. In the first match, the team lost a close one to Shawnigan with Lexy K and Lauren W posting a victory. A much better result was obtained against Queen Margaret with Raveena K, Claudia W, Altynay D, Lexy K and Lauren W all posting victories. In their final match of the day, the team went up against Southridge with the silver medal on the line. Victories were obtained by Ingrid C, Raveena K, Lexy K and Lauren W: the silver medal was ours.
The Junior Boys’ faced Shawnigan, St. Georges and Southridge. The boys got off to a slow start against SLS losing two of their matches by scores of 6-5. They then went up against perennial champions St. Georges. We were defeated 3-0. The team rebounded and finished strongly against Southridge with victories coming from Daniel KBR, Carlos DTA, Gregg H, Shawn H, and Logan B. The final member of the Brentwood team, Minh C, showed great sportsmanship and competed for Southridge as they were short a player. The team competed well and everyone continues to improve. The team will be hosting a friendly match against Shawnigan later this week.
