Junior Island Rugby
The Junior Boys’ rugby team played spirited rugby this past weekend during the Island tournament. They opened with a victory over a large and athletic team from Port Alberni. The boys defended well and started finding gaps in the opposition defense, cruising to a 40-12 victory. In our second match, we faced SLS and, in a courageous battle, lost to the eventual tournament champions 45-5. Toby D scored the only try the talented SLS squad has surrendered this season.
We concluded the tournament with a game that came down to sudden death overtime against Claremont. The game went back and forth and both teams defended well. Unfortunately, off a broken play, Claremont was able to score to end the game, 10-5. The boys played very entertaining rugby and should be proud of their performance.
