Junior Girls Start 2-0

Thursday, December 13, 2012 -

The Junior Girls Basketball team played their first league game of the season against Chemainus. The team worked hard in practice over the past few weeks in order to prepare for game play, and their efforts paid off as they were victorious in their first game, 52-26. Avi S was solid in the guard position, bringing the ball up the court and distributing it well to her teammates, while Cevina G and McKenna H shot the ball well. Valeria F was a fast breaking machine, running the court and looking for layups at every opportunity, and was the top scorer of the game with 18 points.

The height of the team, Sam P and Delaney B, put in a strong effort under the basket, often outworking their opponents and earning crucial rebounds. Jordan B and Hannah M played well as forwards and worked hard to take the ball to the hoop. On defense, Stephanie C was a workhouse and created many turnovers which resulted in easy layups. Well done girls!

The girls also won their second league game of the season, 38-34 over AAA Cowichan Secondary. Play will resume in January.
