The Junior Girls soccer team completed their league play with a 5-0 win over Prevost, on the road. This win gave the squad a perfect 6-0 record during the season where they scored 29 goals and only conceded 3. They take this impressive run into the Island championships next week in Nanaimo (May 8th & 9th), where the competition will be fierce. Thursday's win featured goals from Mairi, Natalie, Sophie (team captain), and a pair from Marta. One of Marta's goals came from a nice play from Megan, who traditionally plays goal (confirming the often debated point that keepers actually have some ability with their feet). Sophie's penalty shot conversion to the top right hand side showed her clinical scoring touch. Many of the girls were called upon to play in positions that tested them during the first half, and after some initial hesitation, adjusted quite nicely (contrary to some opinions, but the coach always knows best!).
