Junior Field Hockey ISA's

19 October 2010
On Friday, October 15th the Junior A Girls field hockey team headed to Vancouver’s Crofton House for the ISA championships where they played four tough games in a 10 hour period. The 5 a.m. start from Brentwood did not slow any of the players as they still showed lots of enthusiasm from dawn to dusk.

Shawnigan was only able to get two goals past our fearless keeper and they ended up tournament champions. Collingwood scored once but the game was end to end action; we just could not put the ball in the back of the net. We dominated Southridge and had many chances to score but their goalie was able to pull off a 0-0 tie. Our last game started at 5 p.m. and the girls still played with energy, enthusiasm and determination. It was another challenging game. Our best chance to score came from a cracking shot from Darby J. We all celebrated the goal only to find out a few moments later that the post robbed us of our goal.

It was wonderful to see parents and grandparents at the games. They were great cheerleaders. The girls improved with every game and the upcoming Island Championships will give them a chance to showcase their new and improved skills and teamwork. It was a pleasure watching the players put so much effort into every contest.
