Junior Field Hockey
The Junior A Field Hockey team had a challenging start to our season. After a handful of practices, we played our first game, against Quamichan Middle School, and lost by 7. Yikes! In our next game, which was against Shawnigan Lake School, we lost by 3. In the third game of our season, which was against Frances Kelsey High School, the margin was only 1 goal. We were quickly improving and learning to work together as a team.
At the Independent School Association Tournament hosted by SLS on October 12th and 13th, we played incredibly well. We won both our games on Friday and were 2nd in our pool. On Saturday we played two games against tough teams and finished 4th out of 8 teams, which was an incredible accomplishment considering where we started at the beginning of the season.
In the week since we have played two more games. One was against Quamichan Middle School. This time we didn’t let them dominate the game; we played hard and were in control of the ball with lots of chances to score, but they won. The other game was against Shawnigan Lake School. Due to some injuries we didn’t have all of players and lost.
We are nearing the end of our season and have a few games and the Island Tournament to look forward to. I think I can speak for all the girls on our team and say that we have all had an awesome season. We would like to thank Mrs. Jackson for being such a fantastic and encouraging coach.
