The Junior Boys basketball team played their strongest game of the season when it mattered the most, but they could not overcome a very strong Gulf Islands Secondary and lost 52-45 on Saturday. The loss ends their hopes of playing in the Island championships at Cowichan next weekend.

On Friday evening the boys displayed great resiliency and determination to ward off an inspired Cowichan Secondary team, 38-36. This victory put them in the championship game of the mid-island zone. Josh C had a very strong game scoring 14 points and scoring the game sealing basket on a three point play started off on a Hayden F steal and outlet pass. This set up the final game against Gulf Islands, a team that had handled our boys on two previous occasions with little trouble.

Sticking to a disciplined game plan and not letting the pressure from Gulf Islands get to them, Brentwood saw balanced scoring from Harrison B, Woody L, Josh C, Eric Z and Hayden F. Despite the loss, the team felt proud of the effort and hard work that they put in during the season and are now ready to put in the time and intensity necessary to improve their skills in preparation for next year’s season.
