Junior Boys Place Second at First Annual Brentwood North/South Challenge

25 January 2011
The format of this tournament pitted four teams from the North Island against four teams from the South. In the first round, Brentwood played against a tall and physical team from Mark Isfeld in Courtenay. With the game tied at half time, the Brentwood team locked down the Courtenay side in the second half holding them to 6 points and winning the game 53-32.

In the semi-final game, Brentwood found themselves against Mt. Douglas Secondary from Victoria. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Brentwood pulled out a hard fought victory, 49-45. Shalev S and Hayden F played major roles in the victory.

Brentwood would ultimately meet a very tough and well coached Dover Bay team of Nanaimo in the tournament finale. Unfortunately, the pressure defence applied by Dover Bay wore down the Brentwood team and our shots just did not fall. Dover Bay walked away with a well deserved 50-40 victory.

The boys have been involved in many close games this year and they will need to draw on these experiences as they progress toward the Mid-Island Championships being hosted at Brentwood during the mid-term break, February 10-12. The boys are away at Courtenay for a tournament this Friday and Saturday, January 28th and 29th.

Mr. Liam Sullivan, Coach
